From Inquiry to Photo Delivery: Here is what to expect
Though the process of finding your newborn and family photographer can be a bit daunting, it also can be simple and fun! I am here from the initial reach out, to the delivery of your images. We work together to get you your dream photos in a timely manner, so you can share and print away. This post is a more clear break down of that process. As well as a few tips of what to expect with in Home Photography.
First off, your home is not on display. I will find pockets of natural light and areas to work with when I get to your home. Many of my clients have smaller-to mid size homes. And half of those home are low light. That is ok!
WHAT DO I BRING TO THE SESSION?
I bring all the things with me. This includes swaddles, blanket, posing pillows, space hearts, etc.
Whether you contact me through my website, Instagram or email, a Welcome Guide is sent your way. This guide includes a detailed breakdown of what lifestyle photography is. It helps to paint the scene for our time together. You can also find price breakdowns and print collections.
A questionnaire button is at the bottom of each guide. This is where I get to know a little bit more about your personality, your family, your story and what you are looking for from your session.
The completion of the questionnaire will send you a link to our phone call! This is hands down the most crucial part of the booking process. It is so much easier to hop on a phone call for ten minutes than go back and forth with emails. First time parents more than likely have no idea what to expect! And repeat clients are in for a wildly different experience when you bring home a newborn to a toddler.
The phone call sets the expectation and helps to minimize any miscommunication.
Everything with Steph Kines Photo is over email and seamless automation for payments and reminders. This keeps our process smooth and moving forward.
Finding the date that works with your schedule is key. I like to keep nap time routines and dinner routines in place for a few reasons. The booking calendar will be sent to you via email. Then you will be emailed a Style Guide for inspiration and Session reminders.
EVERY CLIENT GETS A 48 HOUR SNEAK PEAK!
Depending on the session you booked, a watermarked viewing gallery can be returned as fast as a week! Newborn sessions take around 2-3 weeks.
Once you have seen your viewing gallery, you will select your favorites. This is the time you can upgrade to more photos and a larger print package. Your image selection and print selection is all done digitally within the gallery.
Once I see your selected images, I hand edit each one and make sure they are perfect! This process usually takes about 2-5 days. When you final images are uploaded to your password protected gallery you can then download them. Either full resolution for printing or web size for texting and sharing.
You will also have access to my printshop, where products and prints can be order a la carte. These are gorgeous, hand crafted products that arrive to your door.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH IN HOME PHOTOGRAPHY, NEWBORNS AND TODDLERS
- We get 20 minutes tops with your toddler. Let them engage and let them leave. The less we ask of them, the more they will show up. I promise.
- We play games. A lot of games.
- Disinterest. This is a big part of what to expect with in home photography. When we change rooms, play music or start focusing on something else, many toddlers come back in to check things out.
- Pacifiers and stuffs are welcomed. Let this be the time to remember all the things.
- Newborns will sleep when they want to and be a part of the action when they want to. We let their mood guide us. Sometimes you will be solo with your newborn for sleepy pictures and then trade places with your partner,
- Bubbles inside. I bring a small, discrete bubble tube for a special treat and distraction.
- Bending the rules a little bit (if you are comfortable with that). We may have kids stand on a counter, jump on your bed or blow bubbles in the house.
- Feeling a little “did we get it??” The answer is always yes. I have years of experience working with children this age and typically they end up not wanting me to leave!
