MAKE YOUR FAMILY PHOTOS FUN WITH AN OUTDOOR SESSION ON THE MAIN LINE
When it comes to family photos, the more carefree and fun we can make the session, the better. Centering your session around nature, an activity or a new place adds an element of mystery for the young ones. When we have birds to find, flowers to pick, logs to walk on, how can you go wrong? You can make your session less stressful by choosing fun outdoor family photos this year.
WHAT TIME OF YEAR SHOULD I BOOK??
Depending on the time of year, sunset and evening routines with the family will change. The summer brings longer days and lingering light. Fall can have a golden hour much earlier in the evening. The spring is a gamble with rain, weather, flowers and mud. All of which can add an element of fun to your session!
WHAT DO WE DO FOR FUN OUTDOOR FAMILY PHOTOS?
As a nanny of nearly 12 years, the collection of games, ideas and child-chatter for me is endless. I like to bring some music to the session. Finding acorns or collecting flowers. Chasing Mom or Dad. Shoulder rides, hanging upside down. I always have a discrete vile of bubbles on hand. Sometimes a blanket for relaxation and snacks will help us too.
Approach the evening as if it were a hang-out session with your family. Walking, talking… just being with each other.

TIPS TO REMEMBER FOR HAPPY CHILDREN:
- Make sure your kiddos are fed, or have had a snack before hand (also the promise of a treat after never hurts 😉
- Make sure you and your partner have had some food and are hydrated. This will help curb any potential hangry-ness and keep you feeling strong for your session.
- Talk about our photography session like it’s a play date and I am the coolest person ever. We will be looking for grasshoppers and butterflies and doing airplanes. It is going to be fun.
- Think about bug spray. Depending on the time of day/year and deliciousness of your babies, mosquitoes could be around.
- If you would like to put sunscreen on your children, please do so well in advance and before you put their clothes on to avoid stains and allow the sunscreen to soak in.
- There is some uneven ground at our location so holding hands and walking slowly is key to our success and makes for great photographic moments.
