First, do you like them? No, seriously. Do you feel comfortable talking to them on the phone? Is their communication clear? Are the accessible when you need last minute help?
Welcoming someone into your space can be so personal, so it is super important that you actually like them.
Second, are they comfortable around your children? Working with toddlers, older children and babies is an art. You want to find someone who can connect with your children quickly, helping them to feel good, too. As a nanny for over a decade, I understand the importance of children feeling safe and free. Free to be themselves. Free to engage (or not) and play as they wish.
Third, what do they actually offer for photos at home with your investment and time?
I suggest to look at sample galleries of real family sessions, not just instagram and social material. When you see a full gallery, that is when get a bigger view of what your photos at home will look like. You can see the variety, the feel and the style of photographers much clearer.
