There are some clients who have been dreaming of hiring their favorite newborn photographer for years. They stumbled across an image on social media or a post from an old friend and have been following behind the scenes. There are other clients who didn’t know newborn photography even existed until they knew it existed. Finding a newborn photographer Philadelphia and surrounding areas can be easy when you know what you are looking for.
Why Newborn Photographers?
Photographers are a huge part of other milestones in your life. From school pictures, senior portraits, engagements, head shots and weddings. But for many the photographic journey stops there. Why? Why do we invest so much time and money to find an artist to capture photos for our wedding day, but not think to do the same for the birth of our children?
I have worked with a few families in the Philadelphia area who were turned onto newborn photos by a friend, or the idea was brought to their attention as a gift. When working with these families in particular, they are beyond grateful to able to have the experience of a photographer coming to their home to capture natural, candid newborn moments from this time in their life.
What do we photograph?
Lifestyle reflections of what you are living. Diaper changes, burping, the soothing, the cuddling. How small your babies are in your hands. How their crib seems to swallow them whole. All of these details are documented to tell the story of this time in your life.
How long is a Newborn Photography session?
In-home newborn photography sessions last around 2-3 hours. Feeding schedules and how your new baby is feeling that morning all play a part. Sometimes, some extra snuggles are needed and that is ok. Being in your own space, able to take breaks, lay on the couch, feed and burp your baby is key. After all, this is all foundation of the in home photography experience! We want you to feel comfortable and enjoy your morning together as a family. I just happen to be there to photograph it.
…But my home isn’t photographic…
I am a natural light photographer. This means I use your windows, the sun and spaces around your home, only. I work creatively to find pockets of intimate light for us to take photos in. I encourage my clients to leave their house as is. No extra stress cleaning or re-arranging. You have so much on your plate as new parents. I do not want cleaning to be an extra thing for you to do. What you see and what I see might be different, so I will arrive with enough time to find what we are looking for.
You have enough to tend to, cleaning and arranging your home should not be one of them… I got you!
