Maternity Photography in your home is often an over looked window in the motherhood journey. Why would you want a photo of you with a growing belly? What would you possibly do with images of your pregnancy? I describe this time to my clients as a private, intimate remembering of what time was like before everything changed forever. Maternity images are for you– to honor the woman and partnership that is rooted in love and peace, to look back and say “that was me“. Maternity photography is to celebrate and remember how amazing the female body is- a physical reminder of what our bodies endure to bring our babies into this world. Wondering the best time to book a maternity photoshoot? Depending on how quickly you are showing and how you feel, I suggest between 27-33 weeks into your pregnancy.
Working with clients over years, allows us to tell the story of their journey and show the growth and change through imagery.
Maternity naturally leads to newborn. To showcase these chapters side by side tells the story of growth to birth. Newborn Photography in your own home is an intimate experience as you are surrounded by the comfort and emotions that flow in your house and vibrate the very foundation of your family. Lifestyle newborn photography captures the real, life-like moments of newborn life, from burping to diaper changes, to yawns and cries and fitting their tiny arms inside their clothing. It is the time when parents are trying to figure it all out and handle their newborn baby with such care and awe. Hiring a professional photographer who has a natural approach to newborn photography will help tell the story of this time in an artful and timeless way. Wondering when to book a newborn photoshoot? I suggest getting on the books for your session in your second trimester. This will give you time to prepare, shop around, and get a feel for what an indoor newborn photographer will be capturing.
So here we are, post pregnancy, post birth and we have this quickly growing baby who is changing everyday. You are feeding, bonding, playing, teaching, bathing and sleeping with your child, day in and day out, and before you know it they are off to kindergarten and you are left wondering where all the time has gone… how this is even possible. So many of us are busy documenting life around us, we rarely get in the moments (aside from the selfie if we are feeling put together that day). But how often are you engaging with your children, enjoying your time as a Mom, with your children? Some of my favorite images from my childhood are of myself grabbing my Mother’s sunglasses off her face or seeing the way she looked over at me when I was being sooooo cute. Family photography over the years will give you a collection of moments and feelings from this time in your child’s life that they will want to look back and see how loved and cared for they are.
