People often ask me where my favorite place to photograph is. And the answer is always right here. Right where I am. I get lost behind my camera looking for windows of moments to frame for you and details of your life that might seem ordinary today, but will not be ordinary in a few years time.
People also ask me why I only photograph newborns at home. To me, there is no other place to photograph new life. Your child’s first home. The make-shift nursery in the corner of your bedroom. The kitchen you prepare their food. The hallways you walk to soothe them to sleep. The blanket your grandmother knit. They all mix and mingle to create the very feeling of what the word home means.
At home newborn photography also gives you the time and space to tend to alllll your newborn needs. Feedings, burpings, diaper changes, outfit changes, little yawns and sneezes and stretches. Newborns run the show. They will show us what they need to feel warm, safe and snuggley, all in the comfort and intimacy of your own home.
Here is one of my favorite sessions photographed at home on the Main Line. His blanket was a gift from his grandmother, he was awake and hungry for most of our time together and his mother was able to soothe him to sleep holding him the way he liked to be held. Something only she would know.
